Wildfire Mitigation for Rogue Valley Homes

Southern Oregon's fire season is longer and more intense than ever. I help homeowners build defensible space, harden their homes, and reduce the risk before fire arrives.

Why It Matters

The Rogue Valley Is High-Risk Country

The 2020 Almeda Fire destroyed over 2,500 homes in a single afternoon. Talent, Phoenix, and Medford neighborhoods burned not because of bad luck — but because homes lacked defensible space and ember-resistant features. The science is clear: the right preparation dramatically improves survival odds for your home.

How It Works

A Clear Path to a Safer Home

01

Free Assessment

I walk your property and evaluate all three defensible space zones, ember entry points, vegetation density, and structural vulnerabilities. You get a written report.

02

Prioritized Action Plan

Not everything needs to be done at once. I rank recommendations by impact and cost so you can tackle the highest-risk items first.

03

Hands-On Mitigation Work

I handle the physical work: brush clearing, ladder fuel removal, ember-resistant venting, deck and eave retrofits, and more.

04

Annual Maintenance

Vegetation grows back. I offer seasonal maintenance visits to keep your defensible space current and your home protected year after year.

What I Do

Mitigation Services

Defensible Space Clearing

Zone 0–3 vegetation management: removing dead material, thinning brush, spacing trees, and eliminating ladder fuels that carry fire to your roofline.

Home Hardening

Ember-resistant vents, deck retrofits, gutter guards, and sealing gaps where embers enter. Small changes that make a big difference.

Roof & Gutter Clearing

Debris-filled gutters and roofs are the #1 ignition point. Regular clearing removes the fuel that turns an ember shower into a house fire.

Firewise Assessment Report

A written property assessment you can share with your insurance carrier, fire district, or Firewise community coordinator.

Seasonal Maintenance

Annual or semi-annual visits to re-clear vegetation, inspect hardening measures, and update your risk profile as conditions change.

Consultation & Planning

Not ready for full mitigation? A one-hour walkthrough and consultation gives you a clear picture of your risk and a roadmap to address it.
